Train Collision Near Moscow Kills 6

A cargo train and a passenger train collided near Moscow, Russia on Tuesday, killing six people and leaving at least 45 injured, 25 of which were hospitalized. Five people were confirmed dead at the site and one more died later at a nearby hospital. Everyone that died or were injured were all from the same car. The accident happened when several cars on the cargo train derailed and hit the passenger train on a parallel track moving in the opposite direction. It happened in Naro-Fominsk, which is about 30 miles outside of Moscow. Initially they thought this happened because of a crack in the rail but it turns out that there was no cracks and that a cargo container simply came loose and hit the passenger train.

Skyscraper accused of melting cars to get sunshade

In London, there is a skyscraper known as the Walkie-Talkie because of its curved shape that has stirred a lot of controversy. Although it has a unique design, it has caused several problems. Because of its curved shape, sunlight reflects off of it down towards the ground and has actually melted people cars' parked on the side of the street. However, developers are beginning to add a sunshade attached to the south facing facade to stop sunlight from reflecting onto the street. These developers plan on making this sunshade out of horizontal aluminum fins which they say will solve this problem.

Senior Prank Gone Wrong

In Teaneck, New Jersey, 62 high school seniors were arrested after they reportedly broke into their school overnight. For their senior prank they urinated in the hallways, greased doorknobs, and taped hot dogs to students' lockers. The cops arrived after a burglar alarm at the school went off and they came to find desks and chairs broken, graffiti on the walls, and silly string and balloons throughout the school. As cops from over a dozen neighboring towns arrived at the school, some students escaped but they caught the majority of the students. 24 of the 62 students were 18 or older and were charged with burglary and criminal mischief while the other 38 juveniles were released to their parents. The school continues to assess the situation and is considering the consequences that they will impose on the students involved.

Thieves Tap UK Pipeline

UK police are currently on the hunt for men that are thought to have tapped into the UK pipeline where it is said they have stolen up to 30,000 liters of diesel, which is about $70,000 at pump prices. Police are also guarding the spot where the thieves tapped the 14 inch pipeline. The pipeline is known as the Midline Pipeline located in West Wellow, Hampshire, South England, and is one of the UK's underground pipelines. It is the main supplier of fuel in the UK for gas, diesel, and jet fuel. There has also been a similar incident in Gloucestershire, fairly close to West Wellow, and it is suspected that the same people were involved in that as well.

Recently, Russia has admitted that they do not have any nuclear weapons whatsoever. In fact, they just have little nerf guns set up where they said their supposed nuclear weapons were stationed. Where did their nuclear weapons go? Putin ate them. All of them. He ate the metal and everything. And Putin also admitted that he is a girl. Before his election as the president of Russia, he got a sex transplant. Along with this, Russia and Ukraine said that they have just been joking around the whole time and the Crimean Peninsula has been a part of Russia for over 9000 years. "Trololol" says Putin.

End of the World: Viking Apocolypse

According to Norse mythology, the world will be coming to an end on Saturday. This apocalypse is referred to as "Ragnaorak" which translates to "doom of the gods". Apparently, on Saturday a huge battle will commence, involving all the Norse gods. They will fight and eventually the Earth will split open and everything will fall into the sea. All the heavy hitters will be in attendance, including Thor, Odin, Loki, and others. Viking enthusiasts are planning on gathering in York, England and perform a mock battle. However, experts from the Jorvik Viking Centre in the U.K. predicted that the world will end on February 22, 2014. Significant Fossils Found in Canada

In 2012, researchers discovered a massive trove of fossils in British Columbia but delayed to publish it until this week. The group's leader says that this discovery will "significantly increase our understanding of animal evolution". Sources say that 50 new animal species have been discovered so far and they believe that if they keep finding these species that they will find more there than any other place in the world. However, the researchers are keeping the specific location of these fossils a secret so amateur diggers don't damage any fossils that are yet to be discovered. Scientists say that the significance of the find is that it "will greatly further our understanding of the sudden explosion of of animal life during the Cambrian Period". They hope that this find will lead to bigger and even better discoveries to come.

18 Foot Snake Found in Florida

On Tuesday, engineers in the Florida everglades came across a record breaking Burmese python measuring over 18 feet in length. The engineers were inspecting levees and found the 18 foot 2 inch python, which was short of the record by six inches; a snake was found last year in Florida that was 18 feet 8 inches long. This python was soon killed and transported to the University of Florida where it was officially measured and inspected by scientists. The population of Burmese pythons in the Florida everglades is currently at about 150,000 and is rapidly increasing and making the everglades their new home.

Lenovo buys Motorola from Google

Google recently sold the fading mobile phone star Motorola to Lenovo for $2.91 billion dollars, even though Google initially bought Motorola for $12.5 billion in hopes to turn it around. Although it may seem like a money losing action, it could actually help out allied android smartphone sellers because it will help Lenovo to finally compete with Apple. One analyst says that it's a win-win because "Google keeps the patents and the research group, and they keep partners off their back, while Lenovo gets what they need to get into the US smartphone market." Also, Samsung agreed to a peace-pact with Google, pledging allegiance to Google's Android. With all this combined, it can lead to big competition for Apple and the future of technology might begin to switch in favor of Android.

911 Dispatcher hangs up on caller

Recently, a 911 dispatcher hung up on a man who hysterical after discovering that his mother was dead. The man returned form work and noticed that his mother wasn't breathing, so he dialed 911. His call was immediately answered, however, after telling the man to simply calm down so they could find out where he was and what happened, the caller remained hysterical and unfocused. The caller then continued to holler and shout so the dispatcher told him to stop yelling at her because she "didn't do it". The caller then continued to yell and use profanity so the dispatcher simply hung up on them. However, the initial person who took the call, a metro police dispatcher, was still on the line and ended up helping the caller through the process.

Beanie Babies Creator Sentenced for Tax Evasion

Ty Warner, the creator of the popular Beanie Babies Toys, could be facing up to five years in prison. Warner apparently went through great lengths to try and hide 3.1 million dollars of foreign income from his accountants and the Internal Revenue Service by putting it in a Swiss bank account. In October, Warner did plead guilty to the charge of no filing a Foreign Bank Account Report and agreed to pay a 53.6 million dollar penalty. However, prosecutors are still pushing for jail time for Warner while his attorneys are only asking for probation. In 2002, Warner also failed to pay $885,300 in taxes which is why the prosecutors are asking for a more harsh punishment. According to Forbes, Warner's net worth in 2013 was 2.6 billion dollars.

Thief Steals 250-pound Safe

In Wyemoth, Massachusetts, a thief successfully escaped from a local restaurant with a 250-pound safe. Surveillance film shows a man entering from the back of the restaurant late at night, going down the stairs, and returning with a large object in a trash bag. Kevin Hayes, the owner, arrived at his restaurant the next day missing the restaurant's safe. No arrests have been made on the thief. The owner has not mentioned how much money is in the safe but he is offering a $2500 for information leading to the man's arrest. Apparently, Hayes has bought an even bigger safe and this time he bolted it to the floor.
